![]() ![]() was called up in 1950, trained a few months at Fort Polk,La. He was a member of the OK National Guard, F Company, Frederick Ok when the OK 45th Div. Rivas also served two years during the Korean Conflict/War. 1945 and was awaiting a return to combat when the Atomic Bomb was dropped which ended WW II. The crew was rotated to the states in Jan. The crew's 48th and last mission was one of the longest daylight missions ever flown by B-24's (Liberator) to bomb vital Japanese oil and gas refineries at Balikapapn on Borneo and was near fatal for the crew, as the U.S. Rivas served as a ball turret gunner on the B-24 Bomber. The crew was assigned to the 5th Bomb Group, 13th Air Force and flew to the Asiatic Pacific Theater of operations where they flew 48 missions. Following was a transfer to Pueblo Air Base in Pueblo Colorado for training with a crew of ten for overseas combat duty. He and Sylvia Witt of rural Manitou were married at Gulfport, Ms. Rivas was transferred to Keesler Field, Biloxi Ms. He was assigned to the Laredo, Texas Air Base and earned the aerial gunner wings and rank of Sgt. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1942 and later received his high school diploma through the veterans program from Chickasha High School. He attended Verden and Chickasha Schools. Louis Ray Rivas was born Augnear Anadarko Oklahoma to John R. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin under the direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Ft. Adame of the home, mother in law, Lavera “Babe” Belle of Mayetta, KS, daughters, Tanisha and husband Kenny Burgess of Cache, and Lorna Cable of Lawton, Sisters, Charlene and husband Patterson Tahdooahnippah, Verna and husband Ronald Burgess, and Billie and husband Kenneth Kreger all of Cache, and Glenda and husband Joseph Goseyun of Indiahoma, Brothers, Vernon Cable Jr. She is survived by her husband, Richard A. They spent a wonderful 23 years together raising grandchildren and living life. They were married on Augin Lawton, before moving to Mayetta, KS. She met the love of her life, Richard Adame, in 1997. Especially the annual Prairie Band Potawatomie Powwow in Mayetta, KS. In her free time she enjoyed going to the casino, gardening, dancing to oldies and spending time with her family. She was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren as she helped raise all of them. Norma graduated from Cache High School in 1973 and attended Haskell University. Norma was born Jin Lawton, OK to Gloria Wermy Cable and Vernon Cable Sr. Burial is under the direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home with George Wermy Officiating.
