![]() ![]() The structure is well known and well understood - though the origins of some of the terminology are lost in the mists of time. It's been the essential framework of forums on the Internet since the public migrated from usenet to the web. Maybe I'll use my signature.Forum and thread typesForums contain threads and threads contain posts. This is something I would like to let people know, thus I think that I have to search for another solution. If that debate stays as a normal thread, most of people won't know that It exists, unless they find it because of a search or because of a new reply.īut, I think you two are right: It is not the goal of a Sticky thread and It could be taken as a resolution. I wanted to place it as a Sticky thread into the "Cultural issues" sub-forum because I consider that It is an interesting Cultural Issue for a person who is learning one of these language to take into account, even if that person doesn't agree with what some of us say. ![]() My intention was not to give a kind of resolution on this problem, not even that WordReference supports that idea. What I pretended is to do is to let people know that there are other persons whose believe that they have reasons to claim a sencond meaning for these words, both in English and Spanish. I accept your disagreements and I think It's okay what you both state. While I am not shy about expressing it, it has no more weight than the opinion of any other forero. Tomorrow someone may post something that could change our minds. Thus in the spirit of a discussion forum, I believe we should not try to indicate that all the ideas have been expressed, and that we have arrived at a firm and invariable conclusion. I'm not sure that placing a sticky is useful, in that it might imply that there is some kind of finality or decision that has been taken. I would hope that people would seek older threads on a topic and re-visit them, and add their posts to them when they have something additional to offer. They have been mentioned and discussed in numerous additional threads. This conversation was the third or fourth very long thread devoted to these few words. Others have held, and may continue to hold, differnet views. We have had an interesting discussion, and some people, I believe you and I among them, have reached a conclusion.
